The KLX 650 of 1995 - 1996 is a dirt-oriented big-bore dual-sport with a 651 cc liquid-cooled, four-valve engine layout shared with the KLR650. Its frame was based on Kawasaki's KX motocross machines, and the page's review praises its low-speed control, range and electric starting. Compared with the Honda XR650L, reviewers found it more rigid with a lower seat, but less composed over rough ground and heavier.
